He addresses various topics in the style of wisdom literature (1:5; 3:13-18), including doing what the word of God says (1:22-25),praying effectively (1:5-8; 5:13-18), keeping our tongues in check (1:19-20; 3:1-12; 4:11-12),avoiding favouritism (2:1-13), cultivating harmonious relationships (3:13-18), and using our material resources to honour God (4:13-5:6).
Central to the letter is James’ call to a deep, sincere, and consistent faithfulness to God (4:4-5)
