As Jesus promises to prepare a place for us in heaven, are we in turn prepared to meet our Maker, and look forward towards heaven?  Why or why not?

Jesus proclaims, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” How does this impact our view of Christ and our personal relationship with Him?

How can we experience Jesus as the life?  How can we have hope and assurance in Jesus as the resurrection?

Why did Martha and Mary react differently to Jesus’ arrival? How can we comfort others who might be suffering or dealing with loss appropriately?

Do we sometimes miss what God is trying to tell us? How can we trust God even in seemingly difficult or impossible situations?

Why did Jesus stay back two more days after learning of Lazarus’ sickness? Would you have returned to a place where people had persecuted you?

Why do you think Mary sent word to Jesus?  Why did Jesus respond the way he did in v4?

What is the purpose of this passage (only recorded in John’s gospel)?  What strikes you the most about it?

Consider the reaction of the Jews and the crowds.  At the end of the day, who is Jesus – legend, lunatic, liar or Lord?  How do we live accordingly with Jesus as Lord of our lives?

How did Jesus obey His Father’s will?  How can we apply and follow Christ’s example (cf. 1 Sam 15:22)?
