What will be the light described in v2?  How is He defined in vv6-7?  What does the New Testament interprets what this prophecy means (see Mt 4:12-17, Lk 1:32, Jn 8:12)?               

How might John who knew the Old Testament well, have interpreted Jesus’ reply (cf. Isa 35:5-6)?  What encouragement did Jesus add for John in v6?  What did Jesus say about John (vv10-14)?

Why did Jesus, who was without sin come to John, to be baptized?  What “righteousness” did He fulfill (cf. Isa 53:12)?         

Known to be the earliest Gospel, Mark immediately takes up where Mal 4:5 left off, representing the unbroken thread of prophecy.  What do the contexts of the quotes (Mal 3:1, Isa 40:3) teach about the “coming one”?

What would those who revere God’s name do on the Day of the Lord?           

In what ways do you “put God to the test” every day?  Rewrite vv10-12 as personal promises to you from God.

What assurances did God show to “those who feared Him”? 

Where have you struggled with “bad things happening to good people”?  With “good things happening to bad people”?  

Why then we should not put the Lord to the test in v16 here?  What is the difference between v16 and Mal 3:10?
