Reflect on Jesus’ struggle as He fought the temptation to put God’s will in the second place. What can we learn from His prayer?

What do you learn regarding the place of God’s will in your life from these words that Jesus uttered? How can you let God’s will be first and foremost over your own will?

Matthew 6:11-15

What is the difference between your wants and your real needs (v11-“our daily bread”)?  List them separately and think of ways you can forgo some of the wants so that you can meet another person’s needs?

John 17:1-5

Our first focus in prayer is God Himself whose name (His character) stands for who He is.  In what ways can our lives show more of God’s character so that we (as well as others) may know Christ and make Him known?
