Think of one failed or successful relationship you have.  What change would take place if or when you apply vv19-20 to it regularly?      

What practical difference is there between trials and temptations (vv13-15)?  Illustrate the link between the two and how are they related to God’s gifts (vv16-17)?

What does vv9-11 mean to you with relatively so much wealth in society?  What then should you “take pride in”?        

How does God help us when we need His wisdom (v5)?  Does the expression of doubt have a place when we ask for wisdom (vv6-8)?    

How do vv10-13 sum up the pressures these believers were facing, as well as Peter’s advice on this matter?  How do the pictures of Christ Peter drew in his letter help to bring peace to you (v14)?

What sources of opposition to Christians has Peter spoken of already (2:12,13-14,18; 3:1,16; 4:3-4)?  How do these relate to v8?  What is the Christian defence in this battle?

What qualities does Peter encourage elders to cultivate?  Why are these qualities and proper motivation important in times of persecution?    

What form would suffering take place in our context?  How has such suffering for Christ purified, changed, moulded or matured you?

Why the emphasis on love in the believers’ daily life and love undergirdling all aspects of life (vv9-11)?    

How are the realities of ‘the end’ and judgement (vv5-7) to influence your daily conduct especially regarding prayer?
