I was touched by my mentor’s kindness. She shared with me her ministry experience for me to draw lessons from, as well as to help me grow my own ministry.
I believe everyone has something useful to share with others regardless of our profession. In regard to our journey of faith, all of us have something to share with our fellow believers in Christ as well, that is beneficial to them.
When the Samaritan woman accepted Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah, she was instantly transformed into a new being. She dropped her water jar and ran into town to tell everyone what Jesus had done for her. She gave her testimony in the same streets where she had previously walked along in shame as people whispered unkindly about her. She had given her sin and guilt to Jesus, and could now boldly engage in earnest conversation with everyone she met, about her amazing experience. To put it simply, she was now a witness for Christ (John 4:27-42).
Many Christians talk about witnessing for Christ but they do not understand what it means. To understand it, just ponder what a witness does in court. What is required of him is simple; he will just need to tell the truth about what he has seen and heard. He is not required to know the intricacies of the law.
Likewise, witnessing for Christ is all about telling others about our experience with Jesus. Our testimony need not be a spectacular one because the Holy Spirit can work to make the simplest testimony open the listener’s heart to Jesus. Every believer has been given the power to witness for Christ – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Therefore, let us use that power. Let others know, through both our words and actions, that Christ has forgiven and saved us sinners, so that they may also know Him and be forgiven and saved as well.
